I don't know what's wrong with me,
nothing I do can make them see
that although I'm weirdly self-aware,
that I'm the person who really cares
but you and me, we talked for hours
walked around and got you flowers
free spirit and an artist too,
I've been for someone like you
not sure if we could call it a date,
but I love your stories and how we relate
just when I thought it was going swell,
said you're "not looking for romance," but hell,
if you were you say it would be with me,
just not the time for you start anything
I guess I'll take the consolation prize,
but what the fuck was that look in your eyes?
I'm a mess,
I don't know how to impress, anyone
and I don't want us to just be friends
I really believed you were into me,
I guess I'm a fool, you're so tricky
I really believed you were into me
I guess you fooled everyone
I'm a mess,
I don't know how to impress, anyone
and I don't want us to just be friends

I'm a sucker for lyrics. This song is a beautiful sadness to end a summer with. I love every track on this album but this one is comfortable to me, for better or worse. It captures a feeling I think unfortunately most of us have felt. Surf Curse's whole sound reminds me of loss and no more so then here. logansaxby
